PEDIGREE BOER BUCK AND DUTCH SPOTTED / BLUE TEXEL RAM HIRE IN DORSET, SOUTH WEST

Every year, we are contacted with requests to hire out our rams and bucks. However, due to our herd and flock's exceptionally high biosecurity, this is something that we have never been able to accommodate before.

 

For 2026, this is something we are now offering for the first time, on the basis that hired-out bucks and rams will never return onto our site. This allows us to finally support breeders who are unable to keep a male full-time without compromising the biosecurity and accreditations of our breeding stock. The specific hire bucks and rams will be selected closer to the time.

 

Important Disclaimer: Please also note that while our herd and flock are both SRUC accredited, the hire bucks and rams will lose their accredited status the moment they leave our premises to go on hire to an unaccredited flock or herd. If you require an accredited hire buck or ram, you will need to be the first person to hire the buck or ram, and you will need to complete a pre-movement test before he goes to his next hire flock / herd per SRUC's rules for moving stock off site prior to the six-month testing window. We recommend contacting the SRUC for further guidance on hiring an accredited buck / ram if you intend to do this.

How Buck and Ram Hire Work

 

Our buck and ram hire works on a relatively simple basis. The first hirer collects the buck or ram directly from our premises, and subsequent hirers then collect from the previous hirer. This will all be arranged prior to breeding season so every hirer knows who, where, and when they will be collecting from.

 

At the end of the hire period, the buck / ram will then be sold unreserved by online auction through Stags, with the buyer collecting from the final hirer. This allows us to offer hire males for the first time since the hire buck / ram will never return to our premises.

Please note that all hires will be required to sign a lease/hire agreement. No warranties are made as to successful pregnancies.

How to Book Pedigree Boer Buck / Dutch Spotted & Blue Texel Ram Hire in Dorset

 

Please contact us if you would like to book hire for one of our Pedigree Boer bucks or Dutch Spotted / Blue Texel rams. We will put you on a waitlist, once we have sufficient numbers, we will contact each interested party to arrange the hire. Please note that hire will only be available if there are sufficient hirers to cover the entire hire period.

​​The prices below are theoretical and may be subject to change. Discounts are available for longer hire periods than short hire periods. We recommend a minimum of three weeks to cover two seasons unless you have synchronised your does/ewes.

The available period as standard is shown below, but if you require buck or ram hire for out of season breeding, please message us to see if this can be arranged.
